Follow the Path . . .

This little plein air started as a morning on the water in Newport RI. It has evolved from morning to late afternoon and from sunny to overcast.  Land slowly took over the water and finally evolved to its current state as a little slice of a wooded marsh.   It was an interesting lesson in how to use the plein air sketch as a starting point to explore different compositions.   George Inness was famous for changing finished paintings into completely different scenes (often after they were sold and hanging in the client’s living room)!  If it’s good enough for George  . . .    – eden
